This weekend’s Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Beach, Florida, saw a pair of Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR muscle cars from the new Knight Rider series go under the hammer for $300,000. The cars were sold together as a pair and the buyer was also offered the chance to snap up a brand new 2009 GT500KR, one of only 746 cars, for list price.

The cars included the regular KITT Hero (the regular GT500KR) as well as the KITT Attack model (a high-speed version with additional aero parts), and all proceeds from the sale go to benefit Ford’s Salute to Education charity.

Since they’re based on the special edition Shelby GT500KR, all cars also feature an assortment of performance upgrades including a supercharged V8 engine with more than 500hp as well as an upgraded exhaust system, performance suspension and oversized wheels.

Other Mustangs auctioned off include a Roush-tuned P-51A that went for $135,000, as well as an original 1967 Shelby GT500 that went for $190,000.
